SusceptibilityTest Methods

One of the most important factors governing the management of insecticide/acaricide use is the availability of sound baseline data on the susceptibility of the target pest to the toxicant. Currently a wide range of bioassay and biochemical tests are employed but unfortunately the results may not be comparable since they measure different parameters which can lead to difficulties over the interpretation of monitoring data. IRAC has addressed this issue by recommending a standard range of bioassay techniques to monitor for selected pest species of economic importance.

New Methods Being Evaluated

  • Test Method 12a - Whitefly adult (leaf-dip bioassay)
  • Test Method 12b - Whitefly adult (glass vial bioassay)
  • Test Method 13a - Aphid adult and nymph (leaf-dip bioassay)
  • Test Method 13b - Aphid adult (topical application)
